I’m Fiona Strange. A partner in a Veterinary group in Berkshire. I spend most of my time running Burghfield Veterinary Surgery but have also recently set up Goring Veterinary Centre.

For as long as I remember, I’ve been animal mad. Where this passion sprung from, I’m really not sure. I was brought up in suburbia with parents, who liked a clean, orderly and hair-free environment. Once they agreed to the tank of tropical fish for my 6th birthday it was a slippery slope…2 tortoises, 1 terrapin, 3 hamsters, 2 rabbits, 3 cats, 2 ponies, 2 dogs…

James Herriot’s TV series “All Creatures Great and Small” sealed my fascination with Veterinary Medicine. I began training at the Royal Veterinary College in 1994.

Since qualifying, I’ve worked in the same busy, bustling practice. A huge variety of pets come through the door and I am continually challenged with a varied caseload of patients. Some with the most bizarre signs and none that have any verbal means of explaining their symptoms.Â

My greatest desire is to understand these creatures and act in their best interest. To make them well if I can and if not, to make them comfortable in whatever way is best. I also long to see people enjoy their pets to the full. I believe that  preventative healthcare, good nutrition and owner education are key to ensuring a full and long relationship with your pet.
